- Day 3 of 180
- Time
- 20-minute core + 30-minute extension (50 minutes in all)
Teacher Talk with MystrS. Checked October 25, 2026 (Pacific time). Tags: Cyber, AI.
Goal: Students will be able to:
- Tell apart using AI as a study buddy (quizzes, explains, gives hints) and as a ghostwriter (writes it for you).
- Write study-buddy prompts for a real assignment.
- Explain why the buddy use builds learning and the ghostwriter use does not.
Materials:
- Projector and a teacher-run chatbot
- T-chart handout with two columns, "Buddy" and "Ghostwriter"
- Ten sorting cards, each with one way a student might use AI
Core (20 min)
- Ask: "If AI writes your essay, who learned something?" (2 min)
- Pairs sort the ten cards into Buddy or Ghostwriter. (8 min)
- Discuss the cards that split the room. (7 min)
- Check for understanding. (3 min)
Extension (up to 30 min)
- Demo one ghostwriter prompt and one buddy prompt on the same topic. Ask: which one left you knowing more? (10 min)
- Students write two buddy prompts for an assignment due this week, then a partner improves each one. (20 min)
Check for understanding: "Write one prompt that turns AI into a quiz partner for tomorrow's test."
